Thumbnail image format

Rendering high quality thumbnails doesn't do much good if they are saved as low quality JPEGs.  :)  I suggest changing the thumbnail format to PNG.  It's a simple change in Services\ThumbnailService.cs (line 14, change ImageFormat.Jpeg to ImageFormat.Png, for anyone who's interested).  Great module otherwise!

Hi!

Sure! This makes absolute sense. My bad! :-)

I added a backlog item to work on this issue when I have the time:

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Hello,

I started implementing your suggestion but I realized that since the thumbnail image format follow the format of the original image, if I change all thumbnails to be in PNG format, I could only allow one unique name per image, independent of the image format.

For example, currently we can have both abc.jpg and abc.png in the same gallery and both will have their respective thumbnail. If I change the thumbnails to the PNG format, I can only allow one "abc" image since the thumbnail has only one format. Got it?

I'll wait for some thoughts before committing any code.

Thank you,

Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

Could we append .png to all the images?

Given you example you would end up with: abc.jpg.png and abc.png.png

If the double extension is a problem we could go with abc_jpg.png and abc_png.png
